Some light weekend reading. “The human in the loop: what can traders and investors learn from Fighter Pilots” – Great piece from Essentia Analytics

Hello traders,

Some interesting weekend reading for you here. I wrote a piece for Bullbearings last month about the 3 keys to long-term trading success (which you can, and should, read here).

Part of that piece was from seeing a presentation by a company called essentia analytics who focus on providing software to help institutional traders and fund managers improve their own performance.

Now they have just released a White Paper called ‘The Human In The Loop’ written be an ex-RAF pilot describing the different ways that fighter pilots are trained and what Traders & Investors could learn from those experiences.

Now admittedly I am biased in that a) I’m ex-RAF myself and b) I’m fascinated by performance improvement techniques regardless of where they came from.

Those who know me well know that I go on about this all the time – I can see their eyes glaze over when I keep repeating the same mantra’s time and time again “Here  goes Paul banging on about managing trader performance again and again,” I see them say to themselves.”Next he’ll be telling us, again, to read, the Checklist Manifesto, again. Yawn.” And those people would be right, because I do repeat myself, because it works!

The truth is that managing yourself becomes more and more important the longer that you trade. Anything that can help bring you fresh insight should be applauded.

Anyway you can download the white paper from here And many of their other white papers make for fascinating reading.

Enjoy!
