After a pretty torrid summer of major sporting injury, medical rehab,a house move and a lack of internet connectivity it’s only been in the last day or two that I’ve been able to start spending time in front of the screens.
I had a long chat with FXTrader Sandy yesterday and discussed our trading, the markets, life in general and the way forward for us both. FXTrader Sandy once said to me “If you don’t fix the problem, then the problem fixes you” which I think was quite apt. Having done the 5am starts and the 10 – 16 hours at the screens trading / coaching / writing / studying to the detriment of other areas of my life experiencing a major sporting injury enforced upon me some time to reflect on the way I conduct my business and change things up.
What I have decided is that I’m looking to change the way I conduct my business in the markets. I’ll be looking to move away from 5/15 & 60 min charts towards 240min, daily & weekly opportunities. This will mean less time screen watching and more time doing other things. One of those things being my physical rehab which is including time spent every morning at the Sports centre alternating between swimming and gym work to regain my fitness. This precludes my early morning 5am starts and trading early morning breakouts. But do you know what? I’m cool with that. I’m really enjoying starting my day doing some exercise……and also having a bit of a lie-in. 😉
That’s not to say I won’t engage in some intra-day trading now and then but it’s no longer a priority like it once was. When I lived way out in the country in a beautiful cottage it was easy to lose myself in my trading office and just do trading ‘stuff’. Now that I’m living in Summertown (that’s North Oxford for those that have never heard of it) I’m much more inclined to get out of the house and go and meet other humans, even if it’s just to sit in the coffee shop and read my trading books. It’s easy to become a hermit and for trading to become all-consuming. With all these things it’s about finding a balance.
So you will see some changes in my posts, I hope you will still find them useful and entertaining. Next post up is about a few 4hour swings I’ve taken in the last 24 hours. I’d better go and make a video.
As always, trade well.
